Briar (software)
A decentralized messaging app that works over Tor onion services when using the internet but can also function offline via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, making it highly resilient against censorship.
Cryptocat
A browser-based encrypted chat application that offered secure group conversations. It shut down in 2016 due to concerns over vulnerabilities.
Keybase
A secure messaging and file-sharing service that integrates cryptographic identity verification with end-to-end encryption. It was later acquired by Zoom.
